Finding Time for Hobbies This Fall

I’ve been thinking a lot about how easy it is to let hobbies slide when life gets busy. Work, errands, and everyday responsibilities seem to take up all the time. But lately I’ve realized how much better I feel when I actually make space for the things that inspire me.

I was listening to Kenzie Elizabeth’s podcast House Guest the other day, and she was sharing her favorite hobbies like gardening, needlepointing, and reading. It got me thinking about how much joy hobbies can bring. They’re little things that give you a break from your routine and make you feel like yourself again.

Fall is my favorite time to lean back into hobbies. The cozy vibes, crisp air, and slower evenings make it so much easier to get inspired. This season I’m planning to start cross stitching again, get back into painting, pick up new books, and even try candle-making. I want to make time for the farmers market on weekends, journal more often, and use these moments to feel grounded and excited for what’s next.

Listed below are some ideas that might spark some fall joy:

  1. Read

  2. Make Candles

  3. Cross Stitch or Needlepoint

  4. Add Fall Home Decor To Your Space

  5. Cook Your Way Through A Cookbook

  6. Paint or Make Art

  7. Journal

  8. Drink Apple Cider

  9. Watch or Re-Watch Gilmore Girls & Hocus Pocus

  10. Bake Your Way Through Pumpkin Desserts

I also love how hobbies tie into my favorite parts of fall style and décor. Browsing for new jackets, trench coats, or suede accessories feels like its own little ritual. Adding seasonal touches to my space always makes me more inspired to create. If you’ve been craving a reset, this is your sign to do it with me. Even a small pocket of time can make such a difference. Let’s give ourselves permission to slow down, try new things, and make this season feel special.
